I used these stakes to secure a tarp canopy with poles and guylines. The notches in the top ensure a more secure tie down. I hammered the stakes into the ground using the back of my camp axe without any scuffing, bending, or warping. The stakes didn't loosen or come out during a storm with 40MPH wind gusts, and when it came time to pack up the stakes were still easy to remove. A quick tap on a hard-ish surface will dislodge any dirt/soil stuck to the stakes. I will definitely be using these for all of my rainfly, tarp shelter, and awning needs.*These are probably not the best to anchor a tent with metal rings, but could be modified to do so if nessisary with cordage or small carabiners *I bought these stakes to replace the cheap shepherd hook stakes that came with my new tent. Those stakes bend and spin and pop out of the ground, even in light wind. The first time I used these stakes there were wind gusts of 70MPH. Not one of these stakes bent going in or popped out of the ground during the windstorm. They kept everything in place. I have since bought another set for my canopy. Another bonus is the bright orange color, which are easy to see when walking between tents. These tent stakes are actually sturdier and better than I expected. I actually got them for a different project and for a tent which would require them to be a little sturdier, and they are perfect for what I need. I am using them to hold down heavy tarps for some farm animals equipment and they are doing the job just great. I will be ordering more soon so that I have them on hand in case they no longer carry them. This thing is very durable! Went camping at a state park and used them to secure my text on the gravel pad. No issues driving these in and no issue with bending. Very strong and light weight!Had to move fast due to a pending flash flood and winds, found all my tent stakes just where I put them in. Notched length made it easy to secure other lines. These are great stakes for loose ground because of their wider base. They are also light enough for hiking. Highly recommended! These stakes are great, go for it. The item photo makes them appear to be the ubiquitous triangular aluminum stakes at Wally World and the like, but these are much better. Why ?- They aren’t too long, a typical annoyance with similar stakes in big box camping aisle grab bins. They’re also not weenies that pop out at the first tug.- They are plenty—if not surprisingly— light but not ultra gram weenie Titanium/Helium/magic unicorn light. Save $$ here in exchange for a negligible bit of weight. If you’re concerned about the weight... seriously, don’t fret: these are A-OK.- They are quite sturdy. You CAN bend & wreck them (I have on one) by hard driving into rock or, like me, step/tripping on them but it takes a hearty goof to do so. They’ll last ages if you don’t wail on them like a carnival beast haha.- The three ridge teeth things on the top end are extremely useful, especially if you use paracord for guyline tie-downs. I’ve not seen stakes with this feature and I love it.- You get a bunch. Tent + tarp day shelter, hammock rainfly in wind, ready spares... whatever. It’s nice to have a handful available for now and later.Real world trials and performance:I have a Hyke & Byke 1p Zion for backpacking and generally set up a separate tarp fly with my trekking poles and paracord guys for a day shelter and water collection (Sawyer 1 gal bag) if it is rainy. Makes playing QRP ham radio in camp much more fun :-). Anyway, H&B gear ships with plenty of high quality ultralight stakes but they are SO easy to bend if you hit a root or rock even if being careful. THESE stakes are FAR stronger, similar length and only a few grams each heavier. And yes, H&B’s little pusher disk thing to drive the stakes fits perfectly. Definitely superior. If you use H&B tents or similar gear, this pack of stakes is well worth considering. Plus like I said, you get a bunch.I’ve used these stakes now for three backpacking trips: two in the Hoosier Nat Forest (Deam wilderness) in both high ridge/dense forest and lakeside; and most recently on a 5 day/22 mi loop through Dolly Sods WV... in all environments the stakes dug in, stayed put and didn’t get thrashed even against serious wind gusts. Forest floor, dense sand+small rock, rain/gentle mud & clay, semi-soggy grass... these things got the job done everytime with reasonable site selection and patience. I cannot ask more from my gear.I leave the other stakes in my collection at home now... the new ones have totally proven themselves. The only stakes I miss a little are the skinny hook/crook things that make small grommets on ground tarps easy... but those nasty things bend just looking at them. So I tie up a small paracord loop through the grommets or use zip ties, place these new stakes just outside the grommet (they don’t fit in the hole) and the job gets done.Good luck, happy camping.Unlike the stakes that came with my tent they don't bend when I hammer them in.They are also very light. They have a few shortcommings however:- Paint started being scrattched off on first used when inserted in ground.- They lack a real hook to hold on to a string, which makes me wonder if they would be less reliable in stormy conditions (not something I normally face, but it might impact others)Haven't used the stakes yet but upon receiving they all had orange cord loops except for one stake. Not a big deal since I planned on replacing them with paracord instead, but the holes are not big enough for paracord. I assume this is a minor mistake, very lightweight and nice carrying case included. Would have given 4 stars (5 is reserved for above expectations) but lost 1 star for the missing tie. I still recommend this set. These held a tarp on my wood pile for one winter, but most snapped in half or bent just from the wind. Don't count on these for anything but extremely light duty, and even then I'd be suspect. More trash that is ending up in our landfill. Pros? Stylish looking and very light. My original review disappeared, compelled to give another. I mainly use aluminum stakes, both sizes of MSR Groundhog and DAC and these cannot compare. I bought these for car camping and setting up a tarp on my property, but the durability is questionable. They are fairly light weight and brightly coloured, but cannot consistently handle stress and on root or rock the low grade aluminum can break where other quality stakes have lasted over 10+ years for me. I have bent Sheppard hook style tent pegs, dented DAC and MSR stakes, but these are the only ones that have snapped making them useless. Let's try not to contribute to disposable or unreliable "things" and urge you to buy/invest in decent ones especially if needing for backpacking.I read a few reviews about these breaking. I'm not worried about that because of the low price (I paid only 16 bucks for 12 steaks). If any of mine break, I'll edit this review to let the reader know. For now, I'm happy with this purchase.Quick delivery, product looks good, good price. Unfortunately, as so often happens, 'package contents' is misleading, or I'm just unlucky! It's supposed to be 12 tent pegs and a carrying pouch. I got 10 tent pegs and no carrying pouch! Must've been Friday afternoon at the tent peg plant!
